French Riviera Towns: Monaco, Grasse and the hilltop village you simply must see

👋 Hey lovely travellers,

We’re closing out the French Riviera series with the two towns everyone asks about and forgets to actually visit: Monaco and Grasse, plus the hilltop village I somehow haven’t sent you yet.

🌍 French Riviera: the last stops

🎰 How to Have the Perfect Day Trip in Monaco
Yes, with kids. Pay less than two euros, hop on a bus, and you’re in another country within the hour, novelty alone usually buys you good behaviour for at least twenty minutes. The Oceanographic Museum is the genuine kid highlight here, not the casino.

🌸 A Fragrant Trip to Grasse, Home of French Perfume
The quietest, least crowded stop on this whole list. A bit more museum-style and a bit less playground, so it suits kids who can handle a slower pace or a shorter visit.

🏰 A Perfect Day Trip to Èze Village: Medieval Charm Meets Adventure
Cobblestones, exotic gardens, castle ruins, and yes, a bit of crepe-based bribery to get everyone up the hill. Worth it for the views over Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat alone.

🧠 Family Travel Tip of the Week: The one country per day rule

Monaco makes “visiting another country” feel deceptively easy, which can tempt you into cramming too much in.

⭐ Monaco as a half day, paired with Èze or a beach afternoon back in Nice: great pace
⭐ Monaco as a rushed stop on a “see everything” day trip: everyone’s tired and cranky by 3pm
⭐ Grasse on its own, slower day: perfect for a quieter family or a nap-strike recovery day

The novelty of crossing a border wears off fast once legs get tired.

🎬 Is Cannes worth visiting with kids? An honest day trip guide
If you’re planning your Riviera route and haven’t locked in your home base yet, this is the one to read. The sandy beach and scavenger hunt make it one of the easiest half days on the whole coast.

❤️ Thanks for being here

That’s the French Riviera series wrapped. From Antibes to Èze, I hope it’s given you enough to build a trip that doesn’t just look good on Instagram but actually works with small humans in tow.

See you next Thursday,
Emma

👋 Hey lovely travellers, Every year around this time my inbox fills up with the same question: where should we actually go for the Christmas holidays. So instead of answering it one at a time, here’s my shortlist. 👋 Hey lovely travellers, Two classic Sydney escapes, properly covered this time instead of just a quick mention. The Blue Mountains gets the deep dive it deserves, and Hunter Valley gets an honest “yes, even with kids” verdict. 🚗 Blue Mountains & Hunter Valley 🏔️ Things to Do in the Blue Mountains with Kids My answer to “is it worth visiting with kids” is yes, full stop, no caveats. Flat lookouts right next to the car park, a theme-park-style day at Scenic World, and enough variety to build...
