Puglia: the Italy that feels slower, simpler (and better with kids)

👋 Hey lovely travellers,

Puglia is one of those places that feels like you’ve accidentally discovered a better way to travel.

Slower mornings, long lunches, coastal towns you can wander without a plan… and surprisingly, it works brilliantly with kids.

It’s not about ticking off landmarks — it’s about settling into a rhythm.

🇮🇹 Why Puglia works so well for families

  • Easy, walkable towns
  • Beaches everywhere (and often calm + shallow)
  • Food that’s simple and kid-friendly
  • A pace of travel that doesn’t feel rushed

It’s the kind of place where you don’t need to do much… and that’s the point.

📍 Where to go in Puglia

These were our highlights:

👉 Monopoli → laid-back base, perfect for wandering + beach access
👉 Polignano a Mare → dramatic coastal views (day trip is enough)
👉 Alberobello → magical trulli houses (go early, it gets busy)
👉 Lecce → beautiful baroque town, slower pace
👉 Puglia Guide → how to plan it all together

🗺️ How to structure your trip

Base yourself in one or two places and take short day trips.

This is not a “new city every day” destination and that’s exactly why it works with kids.

💡 Family Travel Tip of the Week

Choose destinations that remove pressure — not add to it.

Some places demand a lot from you (planning, logistics, rushing).

Others — like Puglia — give something back.

When travelling with kids, look for destinations where:

  • you don’t need a packed itinerary
  • getting around is simple
  • there’s space built into each day

Because the less pressure you feel to “do it all”… the more you actually enjoy what you’re doing.

👋 Hey lovely travellers, France is one of those destinations that can feel… ambitious with kids. But it doesn’t have to be. Done well, it’s one of the most rewarding (and surprisingly manageable) trips you can take as a family. 🇫🇷 How to think about France Instead of trying to “see France” — pick a style of trip: City (Paris) Coast (French Riviera) Day trips (Versailles) And build around that. 📍 Where to go 👉 Paris → iconic, but best at a slower pace 👉 Versailles → easy day trip, plenty of...
