Why Singapore is the easiest family trip you’ll ever take

👋 Hey lovely travellers,

If I had to recommend one destination for travelling with kids, especially if you’re just getting started, it would be Singapore. Every time.

Because it’s not just “kid-friendly”…

It’s parent-friendly.

Everything is easy. Everything works. And you actually get to enjoy the trip too.

✨ Why Singapore works so well with kids

  • 🚖 Taxis + Grab are everywhere (no stress transport)
  • 🍼 Baby-friendly facilities in almost every shopping centre
  • 🌳 Green spaces + playgrounds are next level
  • 🍜 Food for even the pickiest eaters

It’s one of those rare destinations where the logistics don’t get in the way of the fun.

🐒 Our favourite family experiences

Here’s what we genuinely loved (and would do again):

  • Gardens by the Bay → feels like a real-life fantasy world
  • Sentosa Island → beaches, cable cars, aquariums and Universal Studios is an easy win for kids
  • Jewel at Changi Airport → yes, the airport is an attraction
  • ArtScience Museum → teamLab Future World is the perfect indoor attraction

🗺️ How long you need

  • 3–4 days → great for a stopover
  • 5–7 days → perfect relaxed trip with kids

We stayed at the Voco Singapore Orchard (an IHG Hotel) in their family room. It was spacious, included an amazing buffet breakfast and our kids loved the rooftop pool.

🧠 Family Travel Tip of the Week: Plan your trip around energy, not just itinerary.

This is one of the biggest mindset shifts that changes how a trip feels with kids.

Instead of asking:
👉 “What can we fit into each day?”

Start asking:
👉 “When will everyone have the energy to enjoy this?”

What this looks like in practice:

In Singapore (and honestly anywhere):

  • Do big attractions in the morning (zoo, Gardens by the Bay, theme parks)
  • Keep afternoons flexible (pool, rest, air-con time)
  • Avoid stacking multiple “high-excitement” activities in one day

Because kids don’t just get tired physically — they get overstimulated.

And that’s when the meltdowns hit… not because the trip is too busy, but because it’s poorly paced.

The hidden benefit:

When you plan around energy:

  • kids cope better
  • you feel less rushed
  • and the whole trip feels calmer and more enjoyable

It’s the difference between a trip that feels chaotic… and one that actually feels easy.

❤️ Thanks for being here

Thanks for being part of this wild, messy, magical community of families who keep saying yes to adventure — even when it would be easier not to.

Wherever you're off to next (even if it’s just the everyday juggle), I’m cheering you on every step of the way.

See you next Thursday,
Emma

👋 Hey lovely travellers, Whether you're a Disneyland purist, a DisneySea convert, or someone who has genuinely lost sleep deciding which park to prioritise with a toddler in tow — this week I'm taking you to Tokyo Disney Resort, snacks and all. We did both parks. With a baby AND a threenager. And somehow lived to tell the tale (and write 8,000 words about it, apparently). Here's your Tokyo Disney inspo to make the planning way easier. 🎠 Tokyo Disney With Kids 🏰 Tokyo Disney Magic: a family...

👋 Hey lovely travellers, France is one of those destinations that can feel… ambitious with kids. But it doesn’t have to be. Done well, it’s one of the most rewarding (and surprisingly manageable) trips you can take as a family. 🇫🇷 How to think about France Instead of trying to “see France” — pick a style of trip: City (Paris) Coast (French Riviera) Day trips (Versailles) And build around that. 📍 Where to go 👉 Paris → iconic, but best at a slower pace 👉 Versailles → easy day trip, plenty of...

👋 Hey lovely travellers, Belgium is one of those destinations that doesn’t always make the top of the list… But it probably should. It’s compact, easy to travel between, and filled with places that feel straight out of a storybook. 🇧🇪 Why Belgium works with kids Short travel distances between cities Walkable, manageable town centres Relaxed pace compared to bigger destinations Plenty of open spaces + squares for kids to roam What kid isn't going to love a Belgian waffle in Brussels? 📍 Where...
