Your Australian Winter holiday plans start here!

👋 Hey lovely travellers,

As the weather starts to cool a little here in Australia, I hope you’re having a cosy week, whether you’re planning a winter escape or just dreaming of getting out of the house with little ones in tow.

This month I’ve been revisiting some of my favourite winter friendly destinations in Australia, especially places that work beautifully with kids when the weather cools down.

Let’s dive in. 🌏

🌍 Winter holidays in Australia

Winter can actually be one of the best times to travel in Australia with little kids. Fewer crowds, gentler days, and lots of indoor options.

Here are a few winter friendly reads from the blog:

Melbourne for Minis
Museums, trams, gardens, playgrounds, and all the little moments that make Melbourne such a brilliant city with kids in winter.

The Blue Mountains, NSW
Museums, trams, gardens, playgrounds, and all the little moments that make Melbourne such a brilliant city with kids in winter.

Two days in Adelaide
Museums, trams, gardens, playgrounds, and all the little moments that make Melbourne such a brilliant city with kids in winter.

🧠 Family Travel Tip of the Week

Winter travel with kids works best when you stop trying to see everything and start thinking in terms of rhythm.

One good indoor activity. Some fresh air. A warm meal. Then home or back to your accommodation before everyone is overtired. A hot bath is a must to warm up after a big day of exploring!

Melbourne and other Australian cities are brilliant for this kind of travel. You do not need a packed itinerary to have a memorable trip. Often the slower days are the ones kids remember most.

Umbrellas up, spirits high: what to do on a rainy day in Sydney

Sydney shines in the summer, but is it still worthwhile visiting in the colder months? This guide is packed full of indoor ideas for a rainy day in Sydney including animal encounters, cultural experiences and all-round fun times.

❤️ Thanks for being here

Winter trips do not have to be big or bold to be worthwhile. Sometimes a change of scenery, a good museum, and somewhere warm for lunch is more than enough.

If you are planning something simple this season, that still counts as travel.

See you next Thursday,
Emma

👋 Hey lovely travellers, Whether you're a Disneyland purist, a DisneySea convert, or someone who has genuinely lost sleep deciding which park to prioritise with a toddler in tow — this week I'm taking you to Tokyo Disney Resort, snacks and all. We did both parks. With a baby AND a threenager. And somehow lived to tell the tale (and write 8,000 words about it, apparently). Here's your Tokyo Disney inspo to make the planning way easier. 🎠 Tokyo Disney With Kids 🏰 Tokyo Disney Magic: a family...

👋 Hey lovely travellers, France is one of those destinations that can feel… ambitious with kids. But it doesn’t have to be. Done well, it’s one of the most rewarding (and surprisingly manageable) trips you can take as a family. 🇫🇷 How to think about France Instead of trying to “see France” — pick a style of trip: City (Paris) Coast (French Riviera) Day trips (Versailles) And build around that. 📍 Where to go 👉 Paris → iconic, but best at a slower pace 👉 Versailles → easy day trip, plenty of...

👋 Hey lovely travellers, Belgium is one of those destinations that doesn’t always make the top of the list… But it probably should. It’s compact, easy to travel between, and filled with places that feel straight out of a storybook. 🇧🇪 Why Belgium works with kids Short travel distances between cities Walkable, manageable town centres Relaxed pace compared to bigger destinations Plenty of open spaces + squares for kids to roam What kid isn't going to love a Belgian waffle in Brussels? 📍 Where...
